What words and expressions are allowed to be used with impunity. Profanity Obscene words in another form

Introduction.
Do not use obscene or generally any dirty, abusive words. Passing through your consciousness, your tongue, they pollute you, your mind, your soul. By using dirty words, you yourself become dirtier. F.G.Uglov

The Russian language has always been distinguished from others by its beauty, flexibility and diversity; it is not without reason that it is called great and powerful. But a huge number of Russian-speaking adults and children often insert swear words into their speech and even replace other words with it. If earlier swearing was mainly the specific language of criminals, drunkards, prostitutes and other degenerate persons, now everything has changed radically. Young people swear freely in the presence of girls, and this does not offend them at all. And in purely girlish groups, the use of unprintable words has become commonplace. Small children, hearing their parents scolding, clog their tongues, not even understanding the meaning of the words spoken. Today, swearing has penetrated into literature, cinema and television. The “innocent” habit of using swear words has led to the fact that many people use it to connect words, inserting a swear word through every normal word. What is a mat? Is it part of the national language or is it a sign of a special degradation of our culture, a sign of our spiritual and moral decay?
With a word God created everything: “ And God said: let there be light "/Genesis 1, 3/. With the word, God created our world - the entire Universe, the entire cosmos (translated from Greek - “beauty”), the word is God’s Gift to man, through it we become like our Creator, who created this beauty for them. The word is also a tool of human creativity. We enlighten and are enlightened by the word. And foul language sows darkness. The Apostle teaches: “Let no corrupt word come out of our mouths, but only what is good...” /Eph. 4, 29/. Words should bring you closer to God, and not move you away from Him. The Lord did not give us lips in order to glorify the devil. Our speech must be pure, we must offer praise to the Lord, glorify the Mother of God and the Saints of the Orthodox Faith.

In ancient Judea, the warning against foul language was taken very seriously, so much so that even to this day in the modern Jewish family one can hear our “international” folklore only as an exception: the non-use of foul language has become a national tradition.

Since ancient times, from the first steps of Christianity on Russian soil, Russian people have prayed to the Most Holy Theotokos in a special way; nowhere have they asked and are not asking for Her help as often as here. And there are reasons for this. There is a legend among believers that Russia is the House of the Mother of God, one of Her inheritances on earth.
And She especially prays to God for the salvation of our fatherland and Orthodox people. But when praying for them, the Virgin Mary refuses to mention in her prayers those whose speech is peppered with obscenities, which is why people in former times also called swearers blasphemers. Let us remember that FOLLOWING- the beginning of the path to even greater evil. THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF Apostasy. We should always remember the words of the Lord Jesus Christ: “... For every idle word that people speak, they will give an answer on the day of judgment, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned” (Matthew 12:36-37). Each of us will have to answer at the Last Judgment not only for all our deeds, but also for every word we have spoken.

The mystical roots of warfare go back to distant pagan antiquity. People of the pre-Christian world were well aware of the existence of spirits, believing that they were all evil: knowing nothing about angels and the heavenly hierarchy, living surrounded by an invisible demonic world, they could not think differently. And in order to protect themselves from demonism, they came into contact with the demonic world.

This contact was twofold: the demon was either appeased by praising him and making sacrifices to him, or they frightened him. So, they frightened with nasty words specially intended for this, demonstrating to the unclean spirit their own, supposedly even greater obscenity...

Similar situations today can be observed before the start of a fight, when opponents, disgustingly grimacing, shout obscenities at each other, intimidating each other, demonstrating a readiness not only to beat but to kill... Not a single tragedy, if it happens in such a situation, without such an “introduction” " is not possible.

Swearing has a clearly expressed cult function in Slavic paganism. It is widely represented in rituals of pagan origin and is of a ritual nature. At the same time, swearing has a pronounced anti-Christian character. In ancient Russian manuscripts, swearing is considered as a feature of demonic behavior.

Since certain representatives of evil spirits go back to the pagan gods, it is most likely that one can see pagan spells in swearing. For the Slavs, swearing acts as a curse. The connection with paganism is undeniable. For example, one of the swear words starting with the letter “e,” which is of Slavic origin, is translated as “curse.” The person who pronounces it thereby curses himself and those around him. A word starting with the letter “x” in Old Russian meant a sorcerer. The combination of this letter and the ending corresponding to the ending of many Russian verbs is a Volkhov action that was associated with deceased ancestors, and with this exclamation the souls of the dead were summoned in pagan rituals.

The remaining swear words are the names of pagan gods, that is, demons. And the person who utters these words automatically calls these demons on himself, his children and his family. Here we are dealing with the mystery of the word. Whoever you call comes. You call a person by name - he responds. If you call on the name of God in prayer, the Lord will answer if it is His will. When the names of devils, the devil, and demonic forces are pronounced, the demons respond, accompanying the swearing person and influencing his mood, health, finances, and relationships with other people.

It is no coincidence that people who are bound by demons by sin hear “voices” and testify that a stream of abusive and blasphemous words sounds in their minds against their will. Or let's take another example. For inveterate swearers, swear words almost completely replace normal speech. They can’t put two words together without swearing. And they don’t think that they can speak differently. Slaves of the mat.

It is not in vain that “foul language” comes from the word “filth”: swearing is a clear and open manifestation of evil in a person. V. Dahl’s dictionary says: “FOIL - abomination, muck, dirty trick, everything vile, disgusting, disgusting, obscene, that disgusts carnally and spiritually; uncleanness, dirt and rot, decay, carrion, eruptions, feces; stench, stench; lewdness, debauchery, moral corruption; everything is ungodly."
This definition is the result of Vladimir Dahl’s deep study of, first of all, folk speech. Those who believe that swearing was used in Rus', especially in villages, at almost all times, are deeply mistaken and do not know their own history. Just in the old days, people were much more clearly aware that foul language was a grave sin before God and before other people; they were punished for addiction to swearing, and really severely. Under Tsars Mikhail Fedorovich and Alexei Mikhailovich, for example, corporal punishment was imposed for foul language: disguised officials with archers walked in the markets and streets, grabbed those who were swearing, and right there, at the scene of the crime, in front of all the honest people, they flogged them with rods for general edification.

The sin of foul language was also condemned at the Council of Carthage (Rule 71): “With obscene words one insults the honor of mothers of families and the chastity of others”... What can one say if one speaks foul language, especially to the address of one’s own child, or just like that, out of pure coquetry, wanting to look “uninhibited” ” and “modern”, the mother herself?.. But perhaps all this is really nothing more than prejudices that have no basis? Let's try to find out whether the abuse has a mystical source and what it is. After all, not every modern person can understand what kind of trouble actually lies behind swear words.

A rotten word from a rotten heart.

A Russian proverb says: “From a rotten heart come rotten words.” When the human heart is corrupted, rotten, nasty words appear as signs of spiritual corruption. Foul language is a sign of excess filth in the heart. If a person’s soul is not cleansed, but is filled with sin and bitterness, then foul language flows out of him in an uncontrollable stream.

The famous lexicographer Vladimir Dal wrote: “You cannot joke with language, with human words, with speech with impunity; a person’s verbal speech is a visible, tangible connection, a connecting link between body and spirit.”

Causing harm to others, a foul-mouthed person may not know that he is causing the greatest harm to himself and his offspring. Human genes “hear” thoughts and words, perceive them and record them in the genetic code, passing the mutation on to the next generation. Bad words negatively affect the genetic code of the foul-mouthed person, are fixed in it, becoming a curse falling on one’s own head and the heads of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The same destructive effect on a person and his genetics is produced by fornication, drunkenness, smoking, drug addiction, theft, lies, envy, violence and cruelty in all forms, including abortion, that is, everything that the Bible calls the word “sin”. And this conclusion of genetic science is also consistent with the Bible: “I am the Lord your God, a jealous God, for the iniquity of the fathers, punishing the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me” (Deuteronomy 5:9).
In medical practice, there is a phenomenon that is at first glance incomprehensible. Sometimes, with complete paralysis of speech, when a person cannot utter a single word at all, he nevertheless freely pronounces entire phrases consisting of unprintable abuse. The phenomenon is indeed strange, but by no means rare. What does it indicate?

Both doctors and clergy are unanimous on this issue. It turns out that swear words travel from the brain to the speech organs along completely different nerve chains than all the others.

We know that representatives of the devilish world, not to mention Satan himself, are largely proficient in the techniques of influencing matter, including our body, the structure of which is well known to them. It is known which centers of the human brain are responsible for what, and which parts of it, if necessary, can duplicate the “non-functioning” ones affected by the disease. An excellent opportunity to excite redundant centers, demonstrating with the help of this “good deed” your power over half-dead flesh... And this is here, in the material world! But what will happen when the soul, which has been possessed by a demon, finds itself beyond its borders? What will happen to such a person at the time of death? The demon's power over him will become complete and final, as lawyers say, not subject to appeal.

It remains to add that, according to the testimony of the church, the most common punishment from above that befalls foul language is death without repentance, that is, sudden
death. This does not mean that it will happen ahead of time, but that it will happen at the end of the natural life span. For a believer, this is always scary, because among the obligatory Christian prayers there is also a prayer asking for a dignified death, accompanied by repentance. As for non-believers, there is a very simple reasoning, but no less wise than any truth.
Let's say you don't believe in God, but your friend does and, unlike you, is afraid to break the commandments. If she is right, after death you, and not her, will face a terrible, painful eternity. If you are right and nothing awaits people beyond the boundaries of physical existence, a believing friend will not suffer from this in any way. But in life here he will definitely win, because this life itself has already proven hundreds and thousands of times throughout the history of mankind: only people those who consciously strive to be kind, decent, and moral, really end up finding here on earth a fate that, if not flamboyantly happy, is certainly worthy.

When a person speaks swear words, he not only defiles and stains his lips, but also pours dirt into the ears of those around him, corrupts them with the content of swear words, brings bad thoughts to them - sows evil, even when he himself does not realize it. When we hear that a person swears, then we must tell him not to use such words, but if he does not listen to us, it is better to move away from evil so as not to harm his soul. As it is said: " turn away from evil, cling to good"(Rom. 12:9).

Medical evidence of the consequences of obscene language.

At the end of the last century, an employee of the Institute of Control Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, founder of the Institute of Quantum Genetics, biologist Pyotr Garyaev undertook research that made it possible to create a device that translates human words into electromagnetic vibrations, and then traced how these vibrations affect the molecules of heredity - DNA. With the help of this modern technology, it has become possible to check how evil and kind words affect a living organism.

It turned out that some words can be worse than mines: they “explode” in the human genetic apparatus, distorting his hereditary programs and causing mutations, ultimately leading to degeneration. During selective warfare, chromosomes become distorted and torn. Mat has the quality of blocking creative processes in the human body. The impact of abuse is equivalent to radiation exposure of 10-40 thousand (!) roentgens - DNA chains break, chromosomes disintegrate. That is, swear words cause mutations similar to the effects of radiation. Rude, evil words can not only undermine health and cause illness, but also kill a person. And not only words, but also evil thoughts are destructive.

The words “mat” and “mother”, as if by chance, have the same root, but since there are many negative emotions associated with swearing, they are also transferred to the word “mother”. At the same time, it becomes more difficult to form the right attitude towards the mother.

Another interesting observation is connected with swear words. In those countries whose national languages do not contain curse words indicating the reproductive organs, Down's disease and cerebral palsy have not been detected, while in Russia these diseases exist and flourish. It is also curious that animals do not have many diseases only because they do not know how to talk, much less swear. If a person, when releasing negative energy, remembers the genitals, then this has a negative effect on them. Therefore, swearers become impotent early or acquire urological diseases. The trouble is that you don’t have to swear yourself; accidentally overhearing swearing is enough, which is why people living surrounded by those who swear also suffer from illnesses.

Swearing is used to express outright evil, in which there is anger and desecration. They fulfill their purpose, destroying the minds and health of both those who swear and those who hear this swearing. Just as in the visible world there are perishable products, so in memory foul language spoils and rots. Hence the diseases of old age: sclerosis, general atrophy, heart failure and other diseases.

If anger is destructive, then, on the contrary, a simple kind word spoken with love heals. This is another result of P.P. Garyaev’s research, proven experimentally. Prayer has a particularly beneficial effect on the body: through the power of grace, defects in hereditary material are corrected, DNA molecules damaged by mutations are repaired, and a person is healed. Isn't that what the Bible says? “Some idle talker cuts as with a sword, but the tongue of the wise heals” (Proverbs 12:18). So, genetics has confirmed what the church knows, and many Christians have been practicing for thousands of years. But still, it is one thing to know the commandment, and another thing to discover that evil abuse is truly a sword piercing the human body, destroying it at the cellular level. But if the matter is so serious, then how we all need to take care and spare each other! And how happy are those families in which there is no swearing and quarrels, where peace, love and harmony reign!

Hell awaits everyone who swears.

If anyone has a passion for swearing, then they must repent, and the Lord will help them free themselves from it.

By defiling with obscenities, a person pushes away the Holy Spirit of God. With his lips, a Christian receives the Most Pure Body and Blood of Christ. By desecrating the lips, sanctified by the touch of the Body and Blood of Christ, with swearing, a person becomes angry. Christ the Savior.

Let us remember that with our lips we kiss the Holy Cross, holy icons, relics, holy books, the Gospel. Let us be ashamed to utter shameful, rotten words with lips sanctified by their touch to great shrines!

It is necessary to realize that any of our speech is heard not only by people whom we are accustomed not to be embarrassed by, but also by Angels, and the Mother of God, and the Lord Himself. Shall we not beware of foul language, so as not to offend the Angels and the Mother of God with shameful speech, not to bring joy to the demons and not to anger God by this?!

There are people who think; " I'll make a mistake for now, and then I'll repent" But the Lord may not give the opportunity for repentance to a sinner who did not even intend to fight sin in his life.

Let us sincerely repent of this heinous sin (seemingly insignificant to some). Let us throw away the demonic and accept God. The Apostle Paul says: “ ...for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity? What does light have in common with darkness?» /Cor. 6, 14/ So, where will the soul of a foul speaker end up after death? Woe to the foul-mouthed: " Their larynx is an open coffin» /Rome. 3, 13/.

“Dear Jesus Christ, forgive me for committing this sin in my life - swearing. I ask You to forgive and set me free. I believe that You are the Son of God. I ask You to become the Lord of my heart, my mouth and my whole life. I believe that You died and rose again for my justification. Change me and make me Your friend. Amen"

Obscene language or in other words, obscene vocabulary is a segment of well-known abusive vocabulary in different languages and includes the most vulgar, rude and obscene expressions. Insulting with obscene language under Article 20.1 does not have too serious consequences, but repeated violations can lead to real imprisonment! It also includes socially obscene swear words, which often express an ordinary spontaneous verbal emotional reaction to an unexpected and usually very unpleasant situation and which fall under. You need to know that the article for petty hooliganism differs from the motives of the document, which describes the consequences of hooliganism in a group!

Using obscene language in a public place falls well under the concept of a classic criminal offense; this kind of language has several negative consequences:

  • insult a specific person for his personal and religious reasons;
  • set an example of socially reprehensible behavior for minors;
  • demonstrate disregard for the norms of law and morality accepted in the state

Important!

The article for swearing in a public place according to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation is divided into through a fine or actual arrest, but for minors the consequences for swear words uttered in front of witnesses will have slightly different consequences due to their age, and the article for swearing may well cool down the most zealous offenders.

Punishment for swearing in a public place

Legal and criminal liability for the repeated use of typical obscene expressions is established under Article 2.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses and will occur in the event of their uncontrolled implementation in society and being offensive in nature specifically against someone personally, or after expressing one’s dissatisfaction in general. Public utterance of any obscene language will be equated to petty hooliganism, the implementation of liability for which is provided for in Article 20.1 of the Code on the Commission of Administrative Offenses by Citizens of the Russian Federation.

A sign of publicity means in this article the utterance of obscene language in the direct presence of people, in some public place, for example on the street, therefore it is in such a situation that an ordinary violator will demonstrate to a much greater extent his obvious disrespect for public order. The main point in qualifying an offense as petty hooliganism will be the presence of intent by the given citizen to violate public order and express clear disrespect for public order. Part 1 art. 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation will give us the following definition of petty hooliganism:

  • committing a violation of public order, expressing clear disrespect for society, which is accompanied by obscene language in public places;
  • offensive verbal harassment of citizens or destruction, as well as damage to someone else’s property, and will entail the imposition of a fine in the amount of 500 to 1,000 rubles or the imposition of administrative arrest for a period of up to 15 days;
  • Carrying out actions involving active disobedience to the lawful demand of a law enforcement officer or other person who performs duties to protect public order or suppress a violation of public order will entail a fine of 1,000 to a maximum of 2,500 rubles or administrative arrest for up to 15 days
  • the use of obscene language is regarded as an insult to a person and humiliation, which is expressed in an indecent form, if there is no doubt about who it was intended for.

Important!

Obscene language under the Code of Administrative Offenses is not only generally recognized obscene words and expressions, but also their modified forms, or their other analogues with the same meaning. If the use of such words is carried out while drunk, then the consequences for using such vocabulary only become more severe! Obscene language in a public place is interpreted under a different article for minors, and its target will be citizens aged 14 to 16 years.

A comment

Actions to commit petty hooliganism are not exhausted by the wording of the disposition - the use of obscene language and offensive harassment of citizens.

Petty hooliganism occurs in any area of our public life: at home or at work; in any public place where other people are located - in an apartment or on the street, in a government institution, at an industrial enterprise or in any form of transport.

Petty hooliganism occurs when a person makes obscene or obscene inscriptions in the absence of citizens and demonstratively violates the peace of citizens at night with their illegal actions. The subject of petty hooliganism is a person who, at the time of committing the offense, reached the age of sixteen and was aware of the consequences of unlawful actions.

Petty hooliganism is often characterized by direct intent. The offender is aware of the illegality of the action, clearly foresees the result of its commission, and desires the same. It happens that the offender does not want such an outcome, but consciously allows it. This is petty hooliganism committed with indirect intent. In public places, or surrounded by strangers, the offender will be able to see in their behavior an important reason for committing criminal acts or to provoke them.

Lawyers note the disproportion of such a reason to the actions performed by the citizen. The motive is the complete satisfaction of the individual need for self-affirmation by reducing and ignoring the honor of other people. The theory of administrative law says that the mandatory signs that clearly characterize an offense include the sign of public danger. The presence of such a sign can mean that an unlawful act will cause or create a precondition for future harm to social relations.

Petty hooliganism is different from hooliganism punishable under Part 1 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code, which fully states that basically the crime is formed due to a gross violation of public order, which expresses clear disrespect for society, which is accompanied by violence towards citizens or the threat of its use, or destruction or serious damage to someone else's property.

Penalties for obscene language

Punishment is provided for teenagers who used obscene language in a public place. The article for obscene language stipulates that if a citizen is between 14 and 16 years old, then guardians or parents will be responsible for him. Upon reaching 16 years of age, you will have to answer for your actions yourself! As a punishment, a fine or warning of up to 5,000 rubles is issued.

If the violation involves the use of weapons, then the liability is increased and becomes subject to criminal liability! Such a decision can only be made by a special administrative commission. She has the right to impose a fine in case of relapse or oblige her to carry out socially significant work to restore the damage committed. Therefore, if a teenager is interested in whether there is an article for obscene language, then we can say that they will have to answer for this before the law!

On Monday, April 23, Roskomnadzor fined the online newspaper Znak for publishing a video containing obscenities. Later, the RKN sent a protocol where it listed five swear words that should not be written or spoken in the media. Thus, the department has clearly indicated that it refers to obscenities for which it can ban the media. Medialeaks has compiled them into one list.

One of the latest victims of Roskomnadzor’s struggle for the purity of the Russian language was the online newspaper Znak. On Monday, April 23, the publication received a notification from the supervisory authority. RKN accused the newspaper of publishing a video containing obscenities and imposed an administrative fine. Deputy editor of Znak Dmitry Kolezev spoke about this on the publication’s official Telegram page.

A few days later, on April 27, the RKN supplemented the notification with an official protocol, in which it explained what words journalists were not allowed to write (and say). The document listed in vivid colors everything that media representatives should know about swearing, so it is better for moralfags to refrain from viewing it. For the same reason, we cannot publish it, but it is our duty to warn you about taboo words.

The task is complicated by the fact that for partial censorship of these words using asterisks, lines or any other symbols, the publication will also be fined, and a ban is not far off. The same Kolezev reported this on the newspaper’s Telegram channel.

RKN refers to the opinion of Doctor of Philology I. A Sternin, who considers five words of the Russian language, as well as their derivatives, to be obscene. Medialeaks has attempted to list these words without abusing the freedom of the media.

The first of these obscene expressions became the most common colloquial version of the word denoting the male genital organ. This expression can be found in such a product of folk art as a saying with a mention of the writer Leo Tolstoy, indicating to a person an excessive exaggeration of his own capabilities: “In words you are Leo Tolstoy, but in reality...”. Of course, we present an unfinished version of the expression.

In second place is a similar five-letter name of the female genital organ. In the list of obscenities from the RKN, it is used in two versions - the most colloquial and well-known (and in some circles serves as an answer to the question “Yes?”), as well as another one, which in its sound and spelling is very similar to the word “mandate”, however does not contain voiceless consonants and at the same time rhymes perfectly with the first (more familiar and traditional version).

This next swear word refers to what moms and dads do behind closed doors. The most colloquial version of this action, which you are unlikely to use in front of your parents, is that same swear word.

The last swear word, noted by the RKN, is often used by Russian-speaking people as an interjection in moments of deep mental distress. In addition, according to the version proposed by Roskomnadzor in the protocol, it means “a woman of dissolute behavior.” This swear word also causes controversy among young spelling fans who cannot decide whether it ends in “d” or “th”.

Media outlets that do not censor these five words, as well as all variants resulting from them, will receive notifications from Roskomnadzor. At the same time, the list of prohibited words includes swear words formed incorrectly or with errors. A word is considered obscene if it contains the root of a prohibited word.

They also tried to understand Russian swearing in the States. Buzzfeed journalists carefully translated and described it for their compatriots. But it turned out that understanding them is not so easy. As a result, Russian readers explained to journalists why they should not confuse female organs with male ones.

And in Canada, chocolate manufacturers directly named their products with the word SHYTE, which in Old English means exactly what you definitely won’t eat. But, as it turned out,...

The Arbitration Court of the Sverdlovsk Region decided that the word “go crazy” is offensive and cannot be used publicly. Thus, the correctness of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) for the Sverdlovsk Region was confirmed in banning the developer’s advertising using this word. The funny thing is that both the antimonopoly authorities and the advertising customer, Investtorgstroy LLC, appealed to the conclusion of specialists from the Ural State University. A.M. Gorky, only from different faculties. And the conclusions turned out to be exactly the opposite.

“Wow! From 61 thousand rubles per square meter. Green Grove Quarter. Sheikman - Narodnaya Volya. Real estate for business. Malysheva Society, 73. Housing cooperative “Zelyonaya Roshcha Quarter (1-9)” - this was the text of the advertisement that was placed in the press and on outdoor billboards in Yekaterinburg. The text, it must be said, is quite epigone: a cultural rehash of the now famous slogan “Euroset” - the prices are just wow.” For which, by the way, Chichvarkin’s company was also punished by the FAS. However, this time there was no unanimity in assessing the controversial word.

Only three words are obscenities: specific names of the male genital organ, female genital organ and their interaction. Obscene vocabulary also includes variations of these words due to suffixes, prefixes, endings, as well as phrases that include a specific name for sexual actions in relation to the mother. All other words are swear words (words that carry an offensive connotation towards the addressee) and vulgarisms (rude versions of commonly used words: as a rule, designations of “indecent” parts of the body, actions and places)
It must be said that the FAS makes a decision on the decency of a particular advertisement based on expert opinion. For this purpose, the department has even formed an expert council on advertising, which includes not only officials, but also lawyers, advertisers and philologists. When considering the ethics of advertising, representatives of the clergy are often involved.

But this time the opinions of experts at the Ural State University were divided. Specialists from the Department of Ethics, Aesthetics, Theory and History of Culture sided with the FAS. “According to expert opinion, the slang word “ofiget” was considered offensive, creating obscene and offensive images, comparisons, expressions and, therefore, unacceptable for use in advertising,” notes a message published on the FAS website. However, Investtorgstroy also turned to the Ural State University for expertise, only to the Faculty of Public Relations and Advertising. An examination conducted by the head of the department of languages of mass communication of the faculty, Elena Soboleva, showed that the verb “to go nuts” does not contain in its meaning meanings associated with the intention to offend someone, and is not offensive. Since the experts did not comment on their decisions, it can be assumed that they proceeded from a different understanding of the root of the word: “fig” in the meaning of “fig” (that is, the prices are almost free) and “fig” as a substitute for an obscene designation of the male genital organ. “Voice of the People” turned out to be on the side of the developer: according to the results of a survey conducted by Sverdlovsk antimonopoly officials during February 2009 on their website among advertising consumers, it was found that 52.28% of respondents consider it acceptable to use the word “amazing” in advertising, 44.53 % - unacceptable, 3.19% - offered their own answers; 30.69% of respondents consider this advertisement offensive, 67.87% do not, 1.44% give their own answer.

Nevertheless, the FAS considered the advertisement unacceptable, and the court agreed with this decision. In principle, antimonopoly officials have already recognized advertising that does not contain any hint of swear words as unacceptable: it is worth remembering, for example, the advertisement for TSUM, for which antimonopoly officials fined him 400 thousand rubles in 2007: “Whoever is not in Prada is a sucker!” or “All people are like people, but I’m in Burberry.” But then the FAS appealed to the fact that the advertising used images of children, and also made unflattering comparisons of social categories - therefore, it was unethical and anti-pedagogical.

On this topic

A huge number of people from the Russian Federation travel abroad quite often for various reasons. During such trips, you must not only be very collected and attentive, but also take care in advance of purchasing appropriate insurance, which will help you avoid many possible troubles and problems.

Here is what the Law “On Advertising” says verbatim: “In advertising, the use of swear words, obscene and offensive images, comparisons and expressions, including in relation to gender, race, nationality, profession, social category, age, language of a person and citizen, official state symbols (flags, coats of arms, anthems), religious symbols, cultural heritage sites (historical and cultural monuments) of the peoples of the Russian Federation, as well as cultural heritage sites included in the World Heritage List.” Now it turns out that any word similar to obscenities can be outlawed. And not only in advertising: there are administrative and criminal penalties for obscene language.

For information: Part 2 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Insult” provides for the following punishment: a fine in the amount of up to 80 thousand rubles or in the amount of wages or other income of the convicted person for a period of up to six months, or compulsory labor for a period of up to 180 hours, or correctional labor for up to one year."

Strictly speaking, And if we talk about the taboo on pronunciation, then it initially existed in the culture only for swearing. Philologists and historians explain this by the fact that the addressee of swear words in the Russian language is or is meant to be the mother (hence the very name of Russian obscene vocabulary).

Since among the ancient Slavs kinship was determined by the mother, and in religion “Mother is the raw Earth” was deified, insulting the mother is the most serious. But our ancestors did not refuse to pronounce such words as “asshole” or “whore” - their transition into profanity did not occur earlier than the 19th century. Now before our eyes the same thing is happening with the words “bitch” and “male”. It is interesting that the first word is already taboo when referring to a woman, while the second, applied to a man, sounds more rude than offensive.

Such torment does not exist in the French- and English-speaking nations. So, for the French, the word merde is rude, but not offensive. Americans, although they have a “dirty dozen” words, for the pronunciation of which in Puritan families they still wash their children’s mouths with soap, nevertheless do not consider them taboo: the word fuck or the corresponding gesture is not uttered except by the heroes of children’s films. Italians can talk as much as they want about how and how many times they use someone for sexual purposes - only the mention of Madonna is taboo. And swearing is considered almost the norm in all languages.

It must be said that the art of Russian swearing today has been practically lost in large sections. Thus, the art of “bending”, the authorship of which is attributed to Peter I, has become legendary: the use of a certain number of swear words and expressions constructed in a certain way. “Small obscene bend” consisted of 37 words, “big obscene bend” contained, according to various sources, from 260 to 331 words. According to the memoirs of his contemporaries, Sergei Yesenin was one of the few who knew how to pronounce not only the small, but also the large “bend” as it should be - on a single exhalation. By the way, the “bends” contained not only swear words. The “small bend,” for example, included “shaggy hedgehog, hairy against the grain.” That is, it was rather a highly technical philological joke. The obscene ditties that were sung the day after the wedding and obscene literary works also did not carry an offensive connotation: the first case is a ritual amulet, and the second is a literary joke. Now, despite the circulation of jokes about the translators of speeches of “Uncle Vasya” and the “new Russian,” most citizens swear in a boring, angry and uninventive manner.

As is usually the case, having lost in quality, Russian swearing has gained in quantity: euphemisms instead of “indecent” words are used in many languages, but only in Russian has this process acquired such large-scale forms today. Perhaps because anyone can come up with their own euphemism for a Russian swear word: to do this, you need to replace the swear root itself, preserving the remaining parts of the word. The result is known from a children's joke dating back to the Soviet period: The Wolf, who was told to replace his swear words with the names of colors, immediately came up with the words “to snag” and “to siren.” The ease of formation of euphemisms and their comical nature have led to the widespread use of “maternal substitutes”. Moreover, the use of swearing helps not only to express emotions and, accordingly, get rid of stress (which in Russia, which is experiencing more than its first crisis in recent decades, is not at all out of place), but also, as British scientists have found, to reduce pain.

As a rule, euphemisms themselves become taboo over time. The trouble is that in today’s Russia this process is taking place, firstly, on too large a scale and too quickly, and secondly, under the supervision of officials and police officers. At the same time, there is no established practice of examination: specialists in the Russian language may consider the phrase “Mochi Khacha” to be humorous, or they may consider the blogger’s complaint “The cops are completely crazy” as an insult. And, as the Sverdlovsk court showed, with such a discrepancy, victory will be awarded to the strongest. That is, the authorities.
